2011 Girls 19U President’s Cup

The 2011 Girls 19U President’s Cup hockey tournament was held in Rapid City, South Dakota March 18-20th. The eight team tournament comprised of teams from North Dakota, South Dakota and Wyoming. North Dakota had three teams in the tournament. Those teams were Bismarck, Fargo and Bottineau. Brynn Fischer of the Langdon Blades participated with the Bottineau Avalanche. Dan Fischer of the Langdon Blades helped coach the Bottineau Avalanche at the tournament along with coaches from Watford City and Mayport.

The Bottineau Avalanche team was made up of team members from Bottineau, Langdon, Mayport, Watford City and Richland. The Avalanche won the first game over Gillette, Wyoming 11-1. The second game against Oahe, South Dakota had the Avalanche winning by 8-3. The third game against Aberdeen, South Dakota ended up with the Avalanche winning by a score of 10-2, putting the Avalanche into the championship game on Sunday against Bismarck.

The Avalanche found themselves down 2-0 early in the second period against Bismarck, but two quick goals tied the game at 2-2 after two periods. The Avalanche went on to win the game by a score of 6-3 at the buzzer. This is the first time a North Dakota team has won the President’s Cup.
